Adoption
NYS Registered Rescue Number: RR335
Rescued companion animals make the very best pets! This is something all of us at Pawz & Purrz know very well because we've adopted too.
We want to make sure the adoption process is as successful as possible, both for you and the animal you've adopted. We will work with you to find the very best pet for you and your family. You can begin the process by looking at our available animals. We will try and give you as much basic information as possible. The next step is to complete an adoption application using our online form. This will allow us to determine if you and the animal you've chosen might be a good fit. We will contact you with any questions we might have, answer any questions or concerns, and schedule a time for you to meet the animal you're interested in.

Adoption Fees
Our adoption fees depend on a number of factors but typically range from $65 to $85 for cats and $125 to $325 for dogs (on rare occasions slightly higher). While adoption fees don’t come close to covering all the costs of caring for the animals we bring into rescue, it does make it easier for us to continue saving others. And really, it's impossible to put a price on the love and companionship a pet can bring to our lives.

I've found an animal I love. Now what?
Start by completing an adoption application. Indicate which animal or animals you are interested in. Even if you haven't decided on a specific animal, completing an adoption application is recommended. Once your application is approved it will remain on file so when the right animal comes along you'll be pre-approved.
Next, we'll contact you and have a brief conversation to determine your needs and preferences, find out about your daily schedule, and discuss your previous experience with pets.
If applicable, we'll call your veterinarian to ensure that your previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for (be sure to call your veterinarian and consent to this information being released).
For renters, we'll check with your landlord to ensure that pets are permitted and that the pet that you're adopting won't violate any restrictions.
Lastly, we may want to schedule a home visit to see the environment where the animal will live. This is a perfect opportunity for you to get ideas on how to integrate your new pet into your home.
